The Monument Journal is a beautiful leather working project that will last a lifetime. The cover and inside pockets are made from the highest quality veggie tanned leather and they are joined together with sturdy USA made waxed poly cord. The snap is preset and all the stitch holes in the kit are pre-cut in our shop so you just need to follow the instructions and you will have amazing results
Each kit contains everything you need to make this heirloom quality journal cover & illustrated step-by-step instructions that walk you through the process. The journal options are listed below.
Contents: the journal cover and inside pockets, two USA made harness needles, waxed poly thread, a custom wooden leather slicker tool (for burnishing edges), a glass vial of burnishing gum & a metal tin of high-quality saddle soap (to give your journal an amazingly soft and rich finish). Note: All you need to provide is a clean rag and water for applying the saddle soap on the last step
Add-ons (Journals / Pencil):
The journal is custom designed for the Rite in the Rain No: 974 Field Flex weather resistant journals which you can purchase as part of your kit (optional $15). If you would prefer a Journal with rip out pages, the kit also fits the Rite in the Rain No. OR73 (optional $10).
The Rite in the Rain All-Weather Mechanical Pencil also slides into the side of the journal behind the snap tab and can be added to your order (optional $14)
The Journal comes with a custom survey monument logo on the front, you can choose to have the saying “Am I breathing? Am I blessing?” on the inside flap of the cover. I find these to be good questions to ask myself, so they are on the inside of my Journals, but the option is there for you to remove.
