Our leather comes from Wickett & Craig out of Curwensville, PA.
“Founded in 1867, Wickett & Craig is a world premiere vegetable tannery. A labor-intensive method that requires skilled workers, veg-tanning is a natural, eco-friendly process that produces deep-colored leathers of superior quality. We’ve been perfecting the art of leather making for more than a 150 years.” - wickett-craig.com
Wickett & Craig has some great background info and videos up on their website so you can see what goes into the six week process of vegetable tanning a hide. Check these links out with the kids!

I was turned on to Wickett & Craig by the classic Seattle, WA outfitter CC Filson Co. Filson uses Wickett & Craig Leather in all their luggage and belts - here’s a cool video with Filson rep talking about the leather:

Wickett & Craig has been super to work with and the quality of the leather is incredible. The specific leather we are using in the knife case project is vegetable tanned skirting – it takes to tooling / forming well and has a beautiful finish.
Your TogetherMade leather projects are in good company with CC Filson Co which I think is super cool, but I also like to think about the projects being only one step away from this amazing tanning factory and process.
